Introducing Agentic Engagement Surveys
The same simple, conversational experience can now power everything from a quick pulse to your annual engagement survey.
Anyone who’s worked at a large company knows the dreaded annual engagement survey. You get an email about a 30-question survey, try to remember your login to some clunky platform, spend forever filling it out, and then your responses seemingly disappear into a black hole.
The thing is, engagement surveys are actually super useful, which is why they keep happening. The insights are often extremely valuable, and HR teams know this better than anyone. The process is what’s broken.
A year ago, we launched Pulse in Windmill. Instead of a slow manual process, we built an agentic system that lets an HR team deploy a swarm of AI agents to have conversations with people across the company and report back on what they learn.
Since launch, Pulse has handled tens of thousands of conversations. The Slack-native experience makes it easier for employees to respond, while Windy helps HR analyze the results and act on them quickly.
Today, we’re expanding Pulse to support full engagement surveys. The same simple, conversational experience can now power everything from a quick pulse to your annual engagement survey.
We’re rolling out four major upgrades today.
1. More question types
Pulse originally supported only open-text questions. Now, you can choose from a range of question types:

- Open text: Free-form answers
- Rating & scale: A numerical rating
- Multiple choice: Pick one from a set of options
- Multi-select: Pick as many as apply
- NPS: Use a standard NPS scale
- Yes/no: Simple yes / no questions
This lets you structure pulses however you want, so you can keep the benchmark questions you already track and still get the open-ended answers that explain them.
2. More ways to take surveys
A Slack-native approach works well for most people, but we wanted to open up more ways to complete pulses. The key to high response rates is meeting people wherever they are. Employees now have four ways of responding:

- Right in Slack: Windy has a quick conversation with them to gather insights
- Windy in Windmill: They can log into Windmill and talk directly with Windy
- Web UI: For a survey with a lot of rating questions, we have a simple form in the platform
- MCP: They can use their favorite personal agent like Claude, ChatGPT, or Muse to respond
It’s critical to let people respond any way they want.
3. Pulse Insights
We’ve rebuilt Pulse Insights to analyze any question type. You can filter and break down results by any group, while anonymous responses stay anonymous because we limit the minimum group size you can view results for.

Once you’ve filtered and sliced the data, you can go deeper by having a conversation with Windy. You can also hook up your favorite agent to analyze results over MCP, or build a live dashboard.
4. Fully connected
Since this is all built on top of Pulse, everything is fully integrated. Pulse responses feed into 1:1s, review cycles, and feedback. Results can be acted on at scale or one by one so nothing gets missed.
We’re super excited to see how you use this new version of Pulse to get better insights.
I’m hosting office hours next Friday, October 9th at 12 PM ET to walk through the new engagement survey experience live, share some of the use cases I’m most excited about, and answer questions.
